statement green tourmaline ring

This design is a custom-made variation on the Jaipur pink tourmaline ring – a style that blends traditional goldsmithing skills with a modern aesthetic.

With a strong interest for gemstones and a keen eye for geometry and colour, Abby’s client was after a large square green tourmaline, known as princess-cut. This gem was specifically selected for this commission. It was mined in Brazil and cut in Germany, with distinctive high quality faceting. Each facet reveals a slight variation of green within the tourmaline – such a mesmerising gemstone.

The setting was hand carved in wax by Abby and cast in 18ct yellow gold, while the shank was hand-wrought in sterling silver with 18ct gold detailing. Despite the challenges of working with suppliers during the Covid-19 lockdown, this statement ring was created and delivered just in time for the recipient’s 50th birthday.

PINK TOURMALINE RING TO CELEBRATE AN 18TH BIRTHDAY

Abby’s client was a father looking to create a special gift for his daughter’s 18th birthday. He provided a brilliant cut pink tourmaline that he had chosen whilst travelling in India. The oval gemstone sits in an 18 carat gold cup-like setting,  mounted on a heavy hand forged sterling silver ring. This simple design works very well with most gemstones of any shape or colour.

HOT PINK TOURMALINE CUFF

This design is a made-to-measure variation on a stone-set cuff seen by my client on the website. The piece features unusual tourmaline trillions (a triangular shaped cut) in a striking shade of hot pink. The gems are set in 18ct gold, while the cuff itself is wrought in sterling silver with 18ct gold detailing. This bespoke commission was completed remotely via e-mail and video call. Suzanne wrote to say: “Thank you for your diligence on this commission. I am so happy with my bangle, it’s glorious!”

TRAPICHE EMERALD RING: AN UNCONVENTIONAL ENGAGEMENT RING

Abby’s client was looking to commission an alternative engagement ring, a modern classic that would be quite unlike any other engagement ring. An avid collector with extensive knowledge of gemstones, she wanted to use a Trapiche Emerald, and was delighted to hear that Abby could source the gem of her dreams! This  rare Brazilian stone with a natural hexagonal shape, is a vivid green colour and has dramatic black patterning, which lends itself to a completely unique piece.

The final design in sterling silver and gold is both striking and understated. Inspired by the Jaipur ring design, it features a bespoke 18 carat gold setting to emphasise the natural shape of the stone and let its natural beauty shine.

COPPER PINK TOURMALINE ON HANDMADE gold CHAIN

This piece was commissioned by a gentleman as a gift for his wife. With strong connections to India, he chose this gemstone that Abby had sourced on a buying trip in Jaipur, he knew that this tourmaline was the perfect shape and colour for his partner. Abby was given free rein to design this piece. The client requested that the end result would be bold yet simple and understated so his wife could wear this precious necklace everyday should she wish to.

Large Cabochon Aquamarine Ring

This ring was commissioned by a woman who wanted to mark a time of change in her life. Celebrating a new chapter, recognising her strengths and values to move forward through life. For this ring, as a gift to herself, she was clear that she wanted a bold statement ring as a constant reminder of her commitment to self love.

The client wrote: “I want to tell you how much I love my ring. I look at it multiple times everyday and just LOVE it. It shines with your joyous making skills”
