Provenance, trusted sources and personal connections

As an established goldsmith I have built long-lasting relationships with well-respected dealers who specialise in sourcing rare and one-off gemstones.

Most of my gemstones come from these UK dealers who assure me of the provenance of each stone, often sourced directly from artisanal miners around the world.

As part of the design process for my jewellery, the stories told by my dealers about each gemstone inform my decision-making in selecting the right stone for the design.

Whenever possible I share these stories with my clients. For example one of my dealers has been buying gemstones from the same family of miners in Brazil for nearly twenty years: he is now working with the third generation.

Meanwhile another UK dealer insisted on purchasing gems only from female miners to benefit their families. The chrome tourmaline pictured below was mined in Mozambique by female miners.

What about re-purposing gemstones?

A rich history, given a new lease of life

Of course new gemstones aren’t the only way to go, you could opt for a gemstone that has already had a life of its own.

I can source beautiful secondhand stones which can be re-polished where necessary and given a new lease of life.

I have worked with a rhodolite garnet re-used from a historic piece of Indian jewellery. The gem was taken out, re-polished and then set in this striking 18ct gold Orb pendant for completely new look, pictured.

I can transform your inherited family jewels into Modern Treasures and give them a new lease of life – to be enjoyed everyday.
